Valleyview Park is located in the community of Dover in SE Calgary. This park features beach volleyball courts, ball diamonds, green spaces, walking paths, toboggan hills, picnic tables, benches, 2-5 yr play structures, 5-12 Play structures, and water spray park. This park is nestled along 26 Street SE and has lots of parking available. The community of Dover was annexed to the city in 1961 and development started in 1970. The community is named after Mary Dover who was the daughter of A. E. Cross, one of Calgary's initial "Big Four" businessmen. Mary was a distinguished horsewoman, was very involved with the war efforts, and in later life served two terms as alderman and a preservationist and environmentalist. Dover, with beautiful views of the downtown core and Rocky Mountains to the West, is minutes from Inglewood and Downtown. Easily accessible from Deerfoot Trail to the West, Peigan Trail to the South, and 17th Avenue / Blackfoot Trail to the North. Dover is home to 6 schools, a community association, many parks, and an eclectic mix of restaurants and shops located on International Avenue (17th Ave SE).
